At just 19 months old, Xaylen already weighs over 2 stone.
Salitza Richard, a 31-year-old resident of Dallas, Texas, became concerned about her youngest son’s well-being due to his rapid growth since birth.
To her surprise, at the tender age of six months, he was already fitting into clothing meant for 12-18-month-olds. Now, he has reached a size where he can even share clothes with his four-year-old brother, Judah, despite initially weighing an average eight pounds at birth.
Salitza, who works as an athlete trainer, playfully jokes that her son’s substantial size and delayed walking milestones have unintentionally contributed to her having significantly more developed biceps.
Xaylen has already caught the attention of sports teams, and Salitza knows her son will be tall when he’s older.
Salitza recalled, “It was insane how fast he grew. He was above the 100th percentile every time we went to the doctor. He was eight pounds when he was born.”
“People will ask how we had such a big baby, and we’re so tiny. I am 5’4″ and my husband is 5’9″; we already know he will definitely be taller than us.”
Xaylen’s growth rate has been remarkable, and it has resulted in him reaching milestones later than usual. Salitza thinks his size has delayed his ability to walk, but now that he has started walking, he’s loving it.
She said, “People always think he’s older than he is. He’s been so heavy; he now weighs 31 pounds, and Judah currently weighs 32 pounds. He’s been delayed in growing and walking as he’s only just started walking a few days ago. Judah first started walking at 10 months, and Xaylen started at 18 months; I think it’s due to his size, everything has been delayed a few months.”
Despite the age difference, Xaylen can fit into his four-year-old brother’s clothes. Salitza describes him as a “bowling ball” and says he’s such a happy baby.
“He’s literally like a bowling ball, he’s such a happy baby. If you give him food, he’s happy. He’s so chill, and he eats a lot, he eats his food and will then eat whatever Judah leaves and will then try to eat more. He isn’t picky.”
Xaylen’s size has also caught the attention of people around them, with many commenting on how big he is for his age. Salitza and her husband are amazed by the differences between Xaylen and their older son, Judah, who was much smaller at the same age.
“My husband works with NFL athletes, and people are already saying to start trialing him and get him on the team now. I also work with a lot of high schools, and they say they want him as a player on their teams, so he has already been scouted; it’s hilarious.”
Xaylen’s future as an athlete looks promising, with his size and happy nature making him an ideal candidate for American football. Salitza and her husband are excited to see what the future holds for their giant, cheerful baby boy.
